Stellar Engineering has successfully completed the full engineering design phase for a major river water system upgrade at a UK sugar refinery. This project involved the modification of a historic and highly congested plant, demanding exceptional planning, coordination, and technical precision. Following a detailed laser survey and point cloud model, our scope of work included:
- Full piping design, including large bore pipework up to 36”.
- Pipe stress analysis and pipe support design.
- Design of a substantial pipe bridge on trestles.
- Comprehensive structural and civil engineering reports.
- A complete drawing package, including fabrication and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
One of the key challenges was the precise tie-in of new piping systems to the existing infrastructure. Leveraging high-accuracy survey data, our team ensured exact alignment, addressing flange face deviations and delivering a clash-free design optimised for construction.
With tight shutdown windows, constructability was a primary design driver. We developed detailed installation methodologies and construction sequencing plans to enable safe, efficient execution with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
